"It's important to remember that the exploitation and abuse of our most vulnerable citizens affects us all," explains Wendy Mahoney, Executive Director of MCADV. "These are our parents, our grandparents, and if we are blessed to live long enough, will be us too. We need to be equipped to help them, and hopefully eliminate elder abuse altogether. Together, we have the strength."
The discussion will be conducted by Richard Courtney of Courtney Elder Law Associates. Courtney will cover such topics as major signals and symptoms of an abused or exploited older adult, planning steps to reduce susceptibility to abuse, neglect or exploitation, and legal measures to take to stop suspected abuse or exploitation of an older adult..
The Elder Abuse Discussion is for assisted living workers, counselors, social workers, law enforcement, law makers, friends and family of elder adults, and anyone who is interested in understanding how to prevent or intervene in the exploitation of an older adult.
There is no cost to attend but the Coalition asks would-be attendees to RSVP to 1-800-898-3234 or email@example.com
